Former Cowgirl Brittany Martin Is Giving Up Basketball

Former Cowgirl Basketball Player Brittney Martin has decided to step away from the game.

Former Cowgirl Brittney Martin has announced this week that she is no longer interested in playing basketball anymore.

This comes as a surprise to many, as Martin was recently drafted in the third round of the WNBA draft by the San Antonio Stars, and had the potential to be a real star in the WNBA.

In a phone interview with the O'Colly, Martin said, "I’m just ready to start my life, and I know there’s some people that can’t understand that. I think there comes a time when you just want to move on and you’re done playing basketball. I think my time came a little early and I think people don’t understand because they’re not in my shoes.”

Martin was this season's leading scorer for the Cowgirls, and was the 2015 Big 12 Player of the Year. She will attend Texas Tech University to work on a master's degree in sociology, and will be a graduate assistant for the women's basketball team.
