It started off as a fairly normal day for Rickie Fowler in Charlotte, NC, aside from the weather.
But as he was working his way through the first round of the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club with playing partner Rory McIlroy, a "fan" apparently threw a golf ball with an ear plug attached to it at two of the Top 5 golfers in the world.

The man was removed from the property by police.
"So random," Fowler said. "The guy tried to say it was a gift. I don't know why you would give a gift of a golf ball with an earplug attached to it."
"It was one of those things," McIlroy said. "It was a golf ball with an ear plug stuck on it, so it was sort of strange."
Fowler is tied for 30th at -1 after shooting a 71. McIlroy sits at +1 after turning in a 73 on his scorecard.
