Athlon Sports came up with College Football’s Top 50 Underrated Players for 2016 and senior Cowboy cornerback Ashton Lampkin made the list.

Lampkin has been on of the best defensive backs on the roster since he showed up in 2012 but has been hindered by more than one injury.

In 2015, as a junior, Lampkin played in 12 games and tallied 31 tackles (25 solo), one tackle for loss, five pass breakups and one interception.

If Lampkin can stay healthy he will offer the most experience at corner the Pokes have and should headline the group along with an improved Ramon Richards. The Cowboys will need both to have big years after the loss of 2015 seniors Kevin Peterson and Michael Hunter.
