CRFF All-Time Cowboy Tournament: Rickie Fowler vs. Dez Bryant

Round 1 of the CRFF All-Time Cowboy Tournament has officially started! In yesterday’s matchup, #16 seed, T. Boone Pickens, knocked out #17 seed, Daniel Cormier. If you don’t already know about this tournament we are holding, check out the Tournament introductory blog! We have seeded 30 of the best to ever wear the orange and black.

Remember:

What is an “All-Time Cowboy,” exactly? Whatever you think it is. This is not a “who’s better?” contest, this is a tournament for the fans. Who did you idolize growing up as a Pokes fan? Who is constantly representing our beloved University, even past their college days? Who would you most want to sit down next to at the Penny, and drink a limey with? These are the types of questions you should be asking yourself while voting. This is for you guys!

Round 1 / Match 2: #8 Rickie Fowler vs. #25 Dez Bryant

OSU fans are not the only people who have appreciated Rickie Fowler since he joined the PGA Tour in 2010; he has captured the hearts of golf fans all over the world, young and old. While Tiger Woods has been licking his wounds, the PGA has had to find other athletes/stories/campaigns to invest their time, money and marketing in. As Tiger was walking out the door, young superstars were emerging after every major tournament. Fowler has been a key cog in the youth movement in the PGA, and he has found him self moved into the spot light along with his youthful comrades.

There’s a solid case that Fowler has represented Oklahoma State better than any other athlete we’ve ever had after leaving Stillwater. While we have grown accustomed to Tiger red on Sundays, Fowler had his own idea. Championship Sunday Orange.

On the other side of the matchup stands one of the most explosive athletes that has ever worn the uniform, Dez Bryant. Bryant is the full package, size, strength, speed, hands, but it’s his swagger that makes him so darn fun to root for. During his time at OSU, he was electric. However, people tend to remember his suspension much easier than his 147 catches, 2,425 receiving yards and 29 Touchdowns. OSU Cowboy fans never forget.

For as much as people like to point out Bryant’s attitude and antics, he sure has seemed to be an amazing community member in Dallas, a philanthropist, and a good teammate. Yes, he has been known to have flare ups, but I think it is fair to pin those on his competitiveness and hunger to win. That competitiveness is going to help while in his match up against Rickie Fowler today.

Voting

While Rickie is still searching for that first major victory, and Dez is looking to take his Cowboys all the way, maybe one of these athletes can grab a CRFF All-Time Cowboy Tournament win along the way. So, who are you siding with? Are you putting on Puma, or throwing up the ”X”? Vote in the tweet below!
