Recruiting Roundup

Some upcoming announcements, some visits and a commit with Cowboy ties.

Rob Ferguson-USA TODAY Sports

It’s been a busy week in recruiting, starting with the August 1 rule change that allowed your favorite members of the Cowboys’ coaching staff to turn you Twitter feed into an endless barrage of Re-Tweet’s.

So let’s get right into it.

Chaz Ah You is a 6-foot-1.5, 190-pound, four-star safety from Timpview HS (Provo, UT). 247Sports ranks Ah You as the No. 2 prospect out of the state of Utah and No. 16 safety in 2017 class.

With his close proximity to BYU and religious ties, they may be the favorite. But Ah You laid out his thoughts in the below tweet.

Chaz Ah You released his Top 10 (Plus 2) with a complete explanation behind his decision process. You’d like to think most prospects put this much time and thought into their decision.

Thabo Mwaniki committed to Oklahoma State last week. The safety hails from Guyer HS (Denton, TX). That’s right, the same school former Cowboys like Josh Stewart, Jimmy Bean and J.W. Walsh attended. Walsh’s dad, John is still the head coach.

Mwaniki is a three-star athlete per 247Sports. As a junior he racked up 64 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, two sacks, six pass breakups and one recovered fumble. On the offensive side of the ball, Mwaniki caught 18 passes for 293 yards and a score. Stats are also per 247Sports.

Darius Boone Jr., CJ Moore and Daylon Figures to visit Stillwater tomorrow, as well. Moore is a big-time receiver target for 2018. All three come from Oklahoma Prep powerhouse, Tulsa-Union. Check out our post on them here.

Big news coming from Louisiana.

Three-star Louisiana running back, Travis Etienne Jr. decommitted from Texas A&M on Monday.

Oklahoma State has been in on Etienne for a while and should have a shot. We’ll find out Friday when he’s set to announce the Top 5 schools in consideration.
