Fellow CRFF Staff Writer Garett Bechdolt wrote about the five OSU games that no one is talking about yesterday. It’s a great read, you should definitely check it out. After reading this post, I wanted to take a closer look at the Cowboys’ road games in 2016 and how they’ve fared against these teams on the road in recent years.
Oklahoma State’s road games for 2016 are listed below in chronological order:
- Baylor
- Kansas
- Kansas State
- TCU
- OU
That’s five weekends this season where we won’t see the Cowboys walk out onto the field in Boone Pickens Stadium.
So how has OSU done in the past against these opponents on their turf? I’ve listed below the Cowboys’ record since 2005 for each team at their place:
- Baylor: 3 - 2
- Kansas: 4 - 0
- Kansas State: 1 - 3
- TCU: 0 - 1
- OU: 1 – 4
That gives OSU a combined record of 9 - 10 on the road against these Big 12 opponents since 2005. That’s not a great record, but hey, it’s hard to play on the road in a conference like the Big 12.
Hopefully the Cowboys can keep their record perfect against Kansas, and Baylor and Kansas State are very winnable. TCU will be a test… and then on to Norman for Bedlam. I really can see the Cowboys coming away from their road schedule with one loss. And, who knows, maybe they pull off a big win in Norman and can put this look on the face of all OU fans:
