College Coaches Name Underwood “Best New Hire”

OSU fans aren’t the only ones who think the Brad Underwood hire was a good one

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-Second Round-Notre Dame vs Stephen F. Austin Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

Excitement around the OSU men’s basketball program has been building exponentially ever since the announcement that Brad Underwood was hired as the new head coach. It’s understandable considering how active Underwood has been in and around Stillwater and on social media, and how excited everyone around the program has seemed since his arrival.

Now it looks like OSU fans aren’t the only ones who think Mike Holder’s decision to hire Underwood away from Stephen F. Austin was the right one. Matt Norlander with CBS Sports says other coaches consider Underwood the best new coaching hire of the off season. Norlander polled nearly 110 coaches on his cross country tour this summer, and Underwood came in first with 27 votes. Here’s what one coach said anonymously about the hire.

Speaking of Travis Ford, he received one vote for best new hire (He was hired at Saint Louis). Also receiving votes; fellow Big 12 newcomers Jamie Dixon (TCU) came in third with 18 points, while Chris Beard (TTU) was eighth with 3 votes.

There are a couple other quotes in the article about Underwood that only stoked my excitement. I am pumped for football season, but I can’t wait for the basketball team to take the court in their first game on November 1st.
