The Amway Pre-Season Coaches Poll was released today, and the Pokes were ranked #19.
HOW THE POLL WORKS
The Amway Coaches Poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of head coaches at FBS schools. The panel is chosen by random draw, conference by conference plus independents, from a pool of coaches who have indicated to the American Football Coaches Association their willingness to participate. Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th.
- USA Today
Alabama and Clemson are easily ranked the #1 and #2 ranked teams. A nearly 200 point gap separates those two and Oklahoma, the #3 squad. Other Big 12 teams who made the list are as follows:
- OU at #3 with 1,398 points
- TCU at #14 with 649 points
- OSU at #19 with 426 points
- Baylor at #21 with 383 points
Seems fair to me. We were left off the 2015 poll, but the Cowboys certainly belong among the best teams in the nation in this years poll. We are returning a much more seasoned group than last year, as sixteen of last years starters will suit up in 2016.
