It’s been quite the week in the NFL for former Oklahoma State Cowboy defensive back Michael Hunter.
About a week ago, Hunter was promoted from the New York Giants’ practice squad to their active roster. The Giants were lacking depth in their secondary after safety Mykkele Thompson injured his knee.
Then, this past Saturday, another Giants’ safety went down with an injury. This caused the Giants to waive Hunter, who plays cornerback, and promote safety Andrew Adams from their practice squad.
So you’re thinking, “Man, that sucks for Michael”. But, earlier today, Hunter was resigned by the Giants to their practice squad, via Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York:
Giants officially placed RB Shane Vereen on IR and re-signed CB Michael Hunter. They also signed DB Doran Grant to the practice squad.

As we’ve seen on HBO’s Hard Knocks, and other reality shows dealing with the NFL, this sometimes happens to players more often than you would think. Luckily for Hunter, it seems that the Giants think he is talented enough to keep around.
Best of luck to Michael throughout the rest of the season!
