SB Nation has released their Top 100 Games from the 2016-17 college football season, and Oklahoma State was featured in the countdown five times between #11 and #50.
So what games were they, you ask? Let’s take a look.
#50 - vs. Pitt
The Cowboys won their final non-conference game against a good Pitt team to finish out the non-conference schedule 2-1*.
The game featured a 91 yard #Rudolph2Washington touchdown pass on the first play of the game, as well as a Ramon Richards INT to seal it.
#36 - vs. Iowa State
The Cowboys needed a comeback to beat the pesky Cyclones, so they put up 17 straight points to beat capture the victory 38-31, on a pair of touchdowns by “The General” and one from Jalen McClesky.
#33 - at Kansas State
This was a thriller all the way through. The teams traded blows and matched each other punch for punch. It appeared that K-State had tied the game up with less than 10 seconds to go, but an offensive pass interference pushed the Wildcats back. On the last play of the game, Jordan Sterns intercepted the pass in the end zone for the Pokes to secure the win.
#32 - vs. Texas Tech
This was the shootout that everyone expected, and appeared to be headed to overtime in Stillwater. Until, this happened.
Gundy ran out the clock and the Cowboys left the field victorious. Fun fact - the over/under was set at 87 points for this game. There were 89 total points scored.
#11 - vs. CMU
*sigh* You all knew this was going to be on there. We all remember what happened. We all know what happened. I’m not even going to say anything else about the game.
So, that’s all five of the Cowboys’ appearances on the Top 100. The Cowboys appeared on the countdown the most of any Big 12 team, and also won more than any Big 12 team. I made a nice little graphic showing this.
