Bedlam basketball tips off in, like, an hour, but words are being exchanged between players from both football teams on Twitter.
Earlier today, incoming OSU defensive tackle Fua Leilua sent out a confident tweet about his squad next season.
We're taking the Big 12 Championship next year mark my words #PistolsFiring ⚫️— HK Fua (@FuaLeilua) January 30, 2017
Nothing too out of control here, right?
Not according to Baker Mayfield. He responded in the most Mayfield-esque fashion ever.
@FuaLeilua ☕️ Good luck with that. pic.twitter.com/9qwQHCIrt2— Baker Mayfield (@baker_mayfield6) January 30, 2017
The most egregious error on the part of Mayfield is that he tweeted a recruit! Who does that?! Somebody needs to show him this handy little flow-chart.
I made this last year, but it will apply for eternity. A flowchart for whether or not you should tweet at recruits. pic.twitter.com/CK6ke7NOyv— Gray Hardison (@BellyoftheBeast) December 17, 2014
So ... things died down for a bit, until OSU wide receiver Tyron Johnson dropped the mic on Mayfield.
Meet you in stilly week 9 twitter fingers! https://t.co/iGy8vdKRHT— XIII THE 国王 (@_TBJXIII) January 31, 2017
Mayfield responded, calling Johnson “Little Brother.” Real original, bro.
@_TBJXIII want the link to the game tape? I have Twitter fingers that have two Big 12 rings on em. But I'll see you then Little Brother— Baker Mayfield (@baker_mayfield6) January 31, 2017
Johnson followed up with this. The 2017 Cowboys are gonna be some dogs. Some good dogs.
Nah but You gonna have to beat some different type of dogs too get the third one whole different team!! https://t.co/a2QkEsVk7U— XIII THE 国王 (@_TBJXIII) January 31, 2017
Bedlam was already going to be a hell of a matchup between two great teams, but now there’s an added edge to it. I love the new guy (Johnson) coming in from the top rope and slamming a Big 12 veteran on Twitter. It’s great.
Also, I thought Bedlam wasn’t a rivalry? Right?
Either way, November 4th is going to be a freaking blast in Stillwater. Boone Pickens Stadium will be en fuego. I can’t wait.
We will continue to update this story as more football players tweet at each other.
