National Signing Day is on Wednesday, and we continue our series of interviews with OSU commits. So far, we’ve spoken with Chuba Hubbard, LC Greenwood, and Sunday I got the opportunity to talk with 3-star JUCO defensive tackle commit, Fua Leilua.

With that let’s get to it...

Micah Allen: To get started, if you could just tell me a little bit about yourself.

Fua Leilua: “I’m from Spanish Fork, Utah. I went to high school out here in Spanish Fork, but I was born is Anaheim, California. [I] signed with Weber State out of high school, transferred to Snow [College] after a year there, and that’s pretty much where I am now.”

MA: What was your first visit to Oklahoma State like?

FL: “My first visit to Oklahoma State was actually last weekend, it was a good experience it felt like. I liked the way it fit, good people, good coaches, great players. I’m just excited to be a part of all that.

Leilua tweeted pictures from inside the locker room and in Boone Pickens with family and coaches during his visit. He also reaffirmed the fact that he’ll be signing with the Cowboys come National Signing Day.

Leilua originally committed to Oklahoma State on November 16.

MA: After your visit last weekend, what about Oklahoma State are you most excited about?

FL: I’m excited to work with Coach Glass and Coach Clements and just be a part of the program, be a part of something big. Win another Big 12 championship.

MA: What drew you to Oklahoma State? What made you decide to commit to Oklahoma State?

FL: It was just the atmosphere, the coaches, the people, the players. Every thing just seemed right about that. Dominant Big 12 team, they played really well this year. Came up short of the Big 12 Championship but we’ll definitely have a shot at that next year.

MA: Talk about your recruitment process. Who all did you get letters from?

FL: “I got offered by Purdue, Louisville, TCU, Utah State and Oklahoma State and so I just pretty much narrowed it down from there. I went and visited TCU a week before Oklahoma State.

MA: What should Cowboy fans look for you to bring to Coach Spencer’s defense?

FL: “Excitement. I love the game and I give it my all every single play.

MA: Throughout that recruitment process who’s had the biggest influence on your decisions?

FL: “Definitely Coach Beni [Tonga], he had kind of an uncle feel. He said he’s gonna take of us when we come out there.

MA: You’re from Spanish Fork, Utah. That’s over 1,000 miles away from Stillwater. What will you miss most about home?

FL: “Just the memories, I grew up here. My grandparents died here so it’s kind of hard to move away from their graves and all of that. but it’s for the best.

MA: What are your plans for National Signing Day?

FL: “We’re gonna have a big party at my house.

I asked Fua a few light-hearted questions to learn more about him.

MA: If you could have a super power, what would it be and why?

FL: Definitely fly so I could avoid traffic.

MA: Favorite food?

FL: Corned Beef.

MA: Favorite musical artist?

FL: J-Cole

Thanks again to Fua for talking to us and look for more interviews leading up to National Signing Day.
