It’s high noon...here are your Oklahoma State sports highlights

NBA: New Orleans Pelicans at Memphis Grizzlies Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

In today’s edition of high noon highlights...

With the height of the football season upon us, it’s hard to think ahead to basketball season. But the stuff I’ve got for you today should get you with in the basketball mood. And with the start of the NBA season this week, I thought it’d be appropriate.

Tony Allen goes back the Memphis:

Last night former Oklahoma State basketball player Tony Allen came back to Memphis for the first time since being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans. Allen was received warmly by his former teammates. And got a standing ovation from the crowd.

The NBA shared the moment with the hashtag #thisiswhyweplay. It was a great welcome for Allen and it’s great to see former Oklahoma State guys have moments like this.

Cowboy Basketball coming to Tulsa:

Fans in the Tulsa area will get a treat when the basketball teams comes to Tulsa for an open practice. Fans can get a look at the team this Sunday from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at Tulsa Memorial High School.

Cowboys predicted to finish last in conference in preseason poll:

This morning the Big 12 preseason poll was released and the Cowboys were dead last. Now I know what your thinking, “but Micah, you said you were gonna get us hyped?”

Say no more:

I really hope that really is on a bulletin board somewhere. It looks like they’re already using it as motivation. PUT IT IN OUR VEINS. LET’S GO.

Kansas comes in at No.1 (shocker), with West Virginia coming in at No.2, TCU at No.3, Texas at No.4, Baylor at No.5, Oklahoma at No.6, Texas Tech at No.7, Kansas State at No.8 and Iowa State at No.9. For the most part these are fair, but why are TCU and Texas Tech ranked so high?

That’s all for today folks. We’re one day closer to the weekend, and for Oklahoma State Students Fall Break!
