Week 8 Big 12 Power Rankings: Oklahoma State at Texas edition

Find out where the CRFF staff ranked each team in the conference!

NCAA Football: Baylor at Oklahoma State Rob Ferguson-USA TODAY Sports

It’s hard to believe we’re already in Week 8 of the season. Even though a little over half of the season is in the books, there are still more questions than answers in the Big 12. The top four team in our Cowboys Ride For Free power rankings all have legitimate conference title aspirations, meaning the final month of Big 12 football should be a lot of fun. There’s also the highly-compelling storyline between Kansas and Baylor’s race for the Big 12 basement. The two teams have been back and forth all year long, but Kansas gets the nod this week.

As always, leave us your Big 12 Power Rankings in the comments section below. Go Pokes!

#10 Kansas

The Jayhawks are way off the mark. I really expected a better showing out of Lawrence, but, like Baylor, there is a great deal of negative energy that surrounds this program. There's not a game you can expect Kansas to win (and you'd be legitimately shocked if it did), which pushes this team to the basement in these rankings once again — Brodie Smith

#9 Baylor

Baylor losing by nearly 40 to Oklahoma State doesn’t look nearly as bad compared to Kansas losing by 45 to Iowa State. For that reason, I suppose, Baylor jumps Kansas this week — Gallagher Martin

#8 Kansas State

Something tells me that the fighting Snyder's will still have something to say in who wins the conference this season. They are never an easy win for sure — Benjamin Clark

#7 Iowa State

Last week Iowa State took care of business against KU in impressive fashion; Cyclones exceeding expectations — Cory Landes

#6 Texas

Horns are down for the count after a 12-rounder with OU. Can they stand up and defend their home field vs a rested Cowboys squad? — Cory Landes

#5 Texas Tech

The Red Raiders are a big surprise so far but can't seem to leap into conference title contention. Shimonek is firing on all cylinders and is everything you'd expect from a Tech QB — Brodie Smith

#4 West Virginia

Arguably the least talked about great offense in the conference. Will Grier and the Mountaineers are right in the middle of the conference hunt — Benjamin Clark

#3 Oklahoma

It’s nice watching Oklahoma fans squirm a bit, as their team is on the verge of playoff elimination as well as ours. Bedlam will be HUGE once again if both teams win out between now and Nov. 4 — Gallagher Martin

#2 Oklahoma State

We knew it would be a tough four-game stretch. We’ll find out how bad the Cowboys want a shot at a national title — Cory Landes

#1 TCU

Purple reigns supreme in the Big XII as the Horned Frogs remained perfect this season. This team doesn't wow you (probably the unflashiest undefeated team left), but it gets the job done week in and week out — Brodie Smith
