Mike Boynton Doesn’t Put Stock in Preseason Polls
#Big12 Media Day: For Mike Boynton, preseason polls don't matter https://t.co/YdN1IVeKuY #okstate via @mark_cooperjr pic.twitter.com/oTJNErghjW

Last week, Oklahoma State basketball was picked to finish last in the Big 12 in the preseason poll. However, Mike Boynton is not worried.
It's not a slight, to be perfectly honest," Boynton said. "Preseason polls really don't mean a whole lot. I've never been into that. I haven't read a single preseason college basketball magazine, probably haven't done so since I've been a coach. I did it when I played because it was something that you enjoyed reading about, maybe hopefully somebody will mention your name, but it's not something I make a lot about, I look forward to going to practice every day and trying to make our guys better and going through the process of continuing to implement our system and elevate our program from where it is to where it can hopefully be again, a nationally relevant program.”
Losing Jawun Evans, Phil Forte, and coach Brad Underwood does not help the rebound Oklahoma State was starting last year. But, with a lot of players and talent returning from last year, I do not see a last place finish. I think Oklahoma State could end up around 6th or 7th. That isn’t necessarily an ideal finish, but with a young team and young coach, it’s a good start towards the future.
