Big 12 Power Rankings Week 10: The Big 12 is a mess, but Bedlam could provide clarity

Big 12 full of parity with Iowa State leading the way

NCAA Football: Oklahoma State at West Virginia Ben Queen-USA TODAY Sports

We are 10 weeks into the college football schedule and what a mess we have in the Big 12. Before the season, it was overwhelmingly agreed that Oklahoma State and Oklahoma were the favorites in the Big 12. Now, we’re only four weeks away from an Iowa State-TCU Big 12 Championship game. . . But there is still plenty of football to be played, starting with Bedlam this Saturday. With a win over Oklahoma, the Cowboys could potentially sky-rocket to the top spot in our Cowboys Ride For Free Power Rankings. But for now, let Iowa State have its fun.

#10 Baylor

I’m low key excited for this week’s Baylor-Kansas game. You know both teams REALLY want this win, which should result in a competitive game. My gut feeling says Baylor will escape the Big 12 basement after this week — Gallagher Martin

#9 Kansas

These guys showed some life in the annual interstate rivalry game. But, Kansas is still Kansas. Wait till next year! — Brodie Smith

#8 Kansas State

The Wildcats just haven’t been the same since the departure of Ertz — Micah Allen

#7 Texas Tech

The Red Raiders have just been kinda meh. Nic Shimonek has had some good games and so has Jeremy Stockton. But they still have only won one conference game — Micah Allen

#6 Texas

What a baffling team Tom Herman rolls out. At times, Texas looks to be back. At other times, we can see it’s not. A convincing win over Baylor does little to help bring clarity, but it sure beats losing to the Bears — Brodie Smith

#5 West Virginia

The defense was exposed versus the Pokes. The offense is really good, but they’ll struggle against good teams — Benjamin Clark

#4 Oklahoma

After the Cyclone speed bump, the Sooners keep getting it done. Everyone talks about how bad the defense is, but OU seems to find a way to win with Mayfield at the helm. And with TCU going down in Ames, Oklahoma is right where it wants to be, only with one more loss than it expected, entering Bedlam Week — Brodie Smith

#3 Oklahoma State

The offensive line is starting to get healthy and they are using King in the run game now. There’s a lot to be optimistic about for the offense moving forward — Benjamin Clark

#2 TCU

TCU’s national championship aspirations are not over after being upset on the road by Iowa State (must be nice). The Frogs still have arguably the best defense in the conference, but boy do I wish the Oklahoma State offense could get another crack at them — Gallagher Martin

#1 Iowa State

Take a picture Iowa State fans, it will last longer. With wins over Oklahoma and TCU, it’s hard not to recognize Iowa State as No. 1 in our Power Rankings. I would love nothing more than for Oklahoma State and Iowa State to win this weekend, setting up a colossal game in Ames — Gallagher Martin
