Today is (likely) the day that Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys find out their bowl destination. The Cowboys finished the season with a 9-3 record, which is a disappointment to some fans, considering how highly toted this team and the offense was.

But that doesn’t mean the Cowboys won’t have a chance to get to 10 wins for the third straight year.

As we wait for the rest of the bowl games to get announced, let’s look at where some “experts” have the Cowboys going.

USA Today

Camping World Bowl - Dec. 28 vs. Virginia Tech Hokies

The Hokies also finished the season 9-3 and finished second in the ACC behind Clemson.

Virginia Tech and the Cowboys have two common opponents this season. VT opened its season against West Virginia, beating the Mountaineers in one of the great opening weekend games of the year 31-24. The Cowboys knocked off the Mountaineers 50-39 in Morgantown this season.

The other common opponent is Pitt. While the Cowboys demolished the Panthers at Heinz Field 59-21, the Hokies had a tougher time. They narrowly edged Pitt at home 20-14 just three short weeks ago.

Camping World Bowl - Dec. 28 vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

This would be a really fun matchup. Notre Dame was ranked as high as No. 3 during the season, but a couple late-season losses dropped the Fighting Irish out of the Top 10.

The Cowboys and the Irish don’t have any common teams, but Notre Dame’s three losses all came to ranked teams - No. 15 (at the time) Georgia in the second week of the season, No. 7 (at the time) Miami and No. 21 Stanford last week.

This matchup would feature two of the Top 25 scoring offenses in the nation. The Cowboys are third with 47.7 ppg, while Notre Dame comes in No. 21 with 35.3 ppg. However, it may be the defense that will cause fits for Rudolph and Co. The Fighting Irish are No. 32 in the nation, allowing only 21.8 ppg.

CBS

Alamo Bowl - Dec. 28 vs. Washington Huskies

The Huskies would be a good opponent for the Cowboys. They finished with a regular season record of 10-2, losing a defensive battle to Arizona State in the middle of October, then dropping another to Stanford roughly a month later.

Washington is allowing a scant 14.5 points per game to its opponents, which is good for sixth in the nation. Meanwhile, the Cowboys score 46.3 ppg, so something’s gotta give with this matchup.

For the record, the Huskies score 36.9 ppg, while the Cowboys give up 30.1.

ESPN

Both Kyle Bonagura and David M. Hale are predicting the Cowboys will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Camping World Bowl.

SB Nation

This is another pick for the Cowboys to head to the Camping World Bowl in Orlando, FL to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Sports Illustrated

Alamo Bowl - Dec. 28 vs. Stanford Cardinal

This is a scary matchup for the Cowboys — if Bryce Love is healthy. The one-time Heisman candidate has rushed for 1,973 yards this season, which is second best in the nation, and 17 TDs. The Cowboys rushing defensive is actually No. 27 in the nation, giving up 131.8 ypg, but Love has the ability to really hurt the Cowboys in San Antonio.
