Unsung Hero: Oklahoma and West Virginia

This freshman hit multiple clutch shots this week.

This week was another successful one for the Cowboys. They were able to win two road games, finishing off a Bedlam victory in Norman in thrilling fashion, and a BIG upset of West Virginia in Morgantown on Saturday. The Cowboys are now 15-8, riding a a 5 game win streak, and right in the thick of Big 12 Tournament discussion. Jawun Evans continues his resurgence in Big 12 play putting up performances of 24 and 18 this week. Jeffrey Carroll made his presence known against WVU with 15 first half points. This team is playing its way into a March run, and a win against Baylor on Wednesday could cement that status.

One player, however, showed me a lot this week. His ability to hit clutch shots this week was very impressive, but they were somewhat forgotten through Forte’s game winner, and the overall victory against WVU.

My unsung hero this week is freshman Lindy Waters III.

He shot lights out this week, going 6-7 from the field, including nailing all 5 of this three point attempts. A couple of these threes were daggers late in the game. Waters has shown a lot of confidence in his shot, especially late in games. He hit a clutch three that kept the game close against OU, leading to Forte’s game winner. In the final seconds, with ice in his veins, Waters silenced the Mountaineer crowd with a dagger 3 in the final minute. If he can knock down shots in key moments the rest of the season, it could mean big things for this Cowboys squad.
