RECAP: Cowboys Get Series Win Against South Dakota State

The Pokes are rebounding from their slow start to the year.

After a midweek loss to Missouri State, Oklahoma State overcame a Friday night defeat and a rain delay to win their weekend series against South Dakota State two games to one.

Friday 3/10

In game of the series, the Cowboys dropped a close one, 2-1.

Dustin Williams had a RBI to send Collin Simpson to 3rd and get Garrett Benge across home for the Cowboys’ only run of the night. The Jackrabbits scored the winning run on wild pitch from Tyler Buffett on a hit from Nick Smith.

In the pitching duel, Oklahoma State’s Tyler Buffett gave up five hits and two runs in the lose, meanwhile, South Dakota State’s Brady Stover only gave up two hits and two run.


Sunday 3/12

Saturday’s game was postponed due to rain, so the teams played a double-header on Sunday.

Game 1

The bats got hot in the first game of the double-header helping the Cowboys beat the Jackrabbits 6-3.

Five different Cowboys had RBIs in the game, with Cameron Dobbs getting himself 2 runs.

Meanwhile the Jackrabbits bats went cold only scoring three runs on seven hits off of Jensen Elliot and the Cowboy pitching staff. Ryan Froom and the SDSU pitching staff gave up six runs on 11 hits.

Game 2

The Cowboy bats stayed hot in the second game, helping OSU win 8-3.

Multiple Cowboys scored runs with Garrett McCain and Cade Cabbiness getting two each, while the Jackrabbits pitching staff gave up 11 total hits.

Carson Teel and the Cowboy pitching staff managed a good game only giving up six hits and three runs.


Next Up: The Cowboys will face New Mexico in a two-game, mid-week series on Tuesday at 12 p.m. and Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
