PREVIEW/GAMETHREAD: Big 12 Tourney Game 1 - Iowa State

Can the Cowboys avenge their previous two losses or will Iowa State leave victorious for the 10th straight time?

That’s right. The Cowboys have not beaten the Cyclones since Jan. 30, 2013.

We literally just played Iowa State 10 days ago, so this is going to be a brief preview that doubles as a gamethread. If you want to read more in depth about Iowa State and the matchup with the Cowboys, you can read my last preview.

So without further ado, here are the quick hits for the morning matchup with the Iowa State Cyclones.

Cowboys (20-11, 9-9 Big 12) vs. Cyclones (20-10, 12-6 Big 12)

Time: 11:30 p.m. CST

Location: Sprint Center, Kansas City, MO

TV: ESPN2

Radio: Cowboy Radio Network

Stream: WatchESPN.com (requires provider login)

The first two keys to the game are the same from the duel in Ames, but the third no longer applies, so here’s the new third key to the game.

3. End the drought.

As I said earlier, the Cowboys have not won against ISU since the early 2010s. That’s much too long of a drought to have against a team. So that means we are due, right? It would be nice to see the Cowboys get out of the first round and challenge for the Big 12 tournament title. We have to stop the deep balls though. If Brad Underwood makes the adjustment and forces Iowa State to drive the ball, I think our chances of winning increases dramatically.
