The Pokes’ stuggles continue

After finally getting a Big 12 series win last weekend, the Cowboys dropped their mid-week game tonight, losing to Central Arkansas at home 11-5. This brings the Cowboys to 19-13 on the season.

It was a mid-game meltdown that cost the Cowboys this one. After building a 3-0 lead, the team gave up 10 runs combined in the 4th and 5th innings.

OSU started their scoring early. Garrett Benge hit an RBI single to bring home Cameron Dobbs in the 1st inning, followed by an RBI double in the second by Trevor Boone to bring home Cade Cabbiness. Then in the third, Garrett McCain stole home to score a run.

The top of the fourth is when things got bad. UCA scored five runs in the fourth and another five in the fifth. Oklahoma State never got close again.

The silver lining? Garrett Bange continued his hot hitting with a home run in the 5th.

Johnathan Heasley gets the loss in this one after giving up four runs on three hits, the Cowboys used four pitchers in the loss, giving up a total of 11 runs on 13 hits.

Brandon Hagerla gets the win for the Bears after giving up just one run on four hits. Jacob Murrary started on the mound for the Bears and gave up four runs on four hits.

NEXT UP

the Cowboys will gear up for an early-weekend series in Lawrence where they will take on Kansas. The Jayhawks are 15-17 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

The series starts early with game one on Thursday at 6 p.m. followed by game two Saturday at 7 p.m. and game three on Sunday and 1 p.m.

The Cowboys are going to have to make a major push in the end of this season if they have any hopes of making it of Omaha.
