Oklahoma State has added a game against Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Western Illinois University to the 2020 schedule.
According to a press release put out by WIU on Wednesday, OSU will welcome the Fighting Leathernecks to Stillwater on Sept. 19th, 2020. This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
Western Illinois is a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The Leathernecks went 6-5 last season, which included a win over FBS team Northern Illinois.
Oklahoma State has not announced the game yet. I have a feeling that’s because the Cowboys were originally scheduled to play the final game of a two-for-one against South Alabama on that date. As of now, a reschedule date has not been announced, however NewsOK is reporting that the game has been pushed to 2023.
OSU will play the first game of that South Alabama series this season when they travel to Mobile, Alabama on September 9th.
With the addition of WIU, OSU’s 2020 schedule is now complete:
Oregon State - 9/30
Tulsa - 9/12
Western Illinois - 9/19
I was really looking forward to no FCS games on the schedule. Alas it seems OSU will continue to schedule these cupcakes games.
Oklahoma State opens the 2018 season on September 2nd when they welcome the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to Stillwater.
