Five-Star Point Guard Names Oklahoma in His Final Six

OSU has some blue blood competition to face in landing the five-star’s services

Mike Boynton just completed his coaching staff, and now he’ll continue to work on filling out the roster with recruits.

That could include five-star point guard Ja’vonte Smart.

Rivals

The Scotlandville, Louisiana point guard has reportedly listed Oklahoma State in his top six schools.

Boynton certainly has some stiff competition if he’s going to land such a coveted player. Joining OSU on Smart’s list are Kansas, Kentucky, UCLA, Florida State and LSU.

As the top player in Louisiana, the 6-foot-4, 185 lb. guard would be a tremendous addition to the 2018 class and figures to be an immediate presence as Boynton builds the program for the future.

Smart is a smooth scorer and racks up assists while also playing aggressive defense Cowboy fans have revered since the days of Henry Iba. He averaged 25.1 points per game last season and sank more than 50 percent of his shots. He also pulled down almost nine rebounds per contest and added 6.4 assist each game.

According to 247 Sports, Kentucky and LSU are the favorites to land Smart. Even if Smart chooses one of the other elite programs on his list, it’s great to see Boynton attracting interest from players of his caliber.
