The series begins next season in Stillwater

UPDATE: Go ahead and mark your calendars. According to Tulsa World’s TU beat writer Kelly Hines, the Oklahoma State and Tulsa game in Stillwater next season will be played on December 19th, 2017.

Oklahoma State and Tulsa will renew their basketball rivalry this coming season.

According to Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports, the two schools scheduled a home-and-home series that will begin in Stillwater this coming winter and move down US-412 to Tulsa for the 2018-2019 season.

The two teams have met the last three seasons, including last December in Tulsa in a game Oklahoma State won 71-67. Oklahoma State leads the overall series 35-20 over the Golden Hurricane.

When the two teams meet this fall, they will look vastly different. Gone is Brad Underwood who led the Cowboys to a 20-13 season and first round exit in the NCAA tournament. Also gone are Phil Forte, Jawun Evans, and Leyton Hammonds.

Tulsa went 15-17 last season, failing to make the postseason for the first time under head coach Frank Haith. They will also be losing Junior Etou and Jaleel Wheeler, their senior leaders at forward and guard, respectively.

No official date has been announced for the contest, and the schools have yet to confirm, but it wouldn’t be surprising as the two teams play each other quite often in the non-conference schedule.
