College football is still more than three months away. That doesn’t mean you can’t go ahead and starting placing bets on who will win the Big 12.
BetOnline released their betting odds for which team will win the Big 12 title.
Oklahoma -150
Oklahoma State +500
Texas +600
TCU +700
Kansas State +1,000
West Virginia +1000
Baylor +2,500
Iowa State +10,000
Texas Tech +10,000
Kansas +20,000
+500 for a Cowboy team that many think will win the Big 12 this year?
Ben Kercheval of CBS Sports agrees, saying the Cowboys are the best bet of the league.
Oklahoma State returns a ton of firepower on offense with the trifecta of Mason Rudolph, James Washington -- one of our 17 most irreplaceable players -- and Justice Hill.
Whether the Pokes will actually be able to notch their first conference championship since 2011 -- the offseason narrative is that this is coach Mike Gundy's best team since then -- or just be another exciting 9-3 team will be interesting to follow. Still, the Bedlam game has been significant in the past few years. With the Big 12 bringing back its conference championship game this season, it could be twice as important (literally).
I realize that Oklahoma has the tradition and Baker Mayfield is back, but there are questions at wide receiver and running back for the Sooners. The fact that they are that big a betting favorite is crazy.
That Kansas State has the 5th best odds behind Texas (people have a LOT of faith in Tom Herman) and TCU (seriously?) which also seems crazy to me. Kercheval agreed calling the Wildcats the most interesting long shot.
Also, Kercheval bringing up the idea of Bedlam twice. Be still my beating heart.
The season can’t get here soon enough.
