Bernard is a 3-star safety out of Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, LA.
Louisiana has become quite the pipeline state for Mike Gundy and Co. There are six players on the roster from “The Pelican State”, including Jalen McCleskey, Kevin Henry, and Tyron Johnson.
Bernard stands at 6-2 and weighs in at 200. His sophomore season (2015-16), he recorded 38 tackles, including five for a loss. He picked off three passes, forced one fumble and recovered two fumbles. One of his INTs was a pick-six, which were his only points on the year, according to MaxPreps.
Bernard picked the Cowboys over schools including Arizona State, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Memphis and others.
Here are his Hudl highlights from last season.
