As college football trophy fall watch lists continue to be released, it’s not surprising to see Cowboy player's names appear on many of them.
That now includes Oklahoma State senior center Brad Lundblade, who has been named to the Rimington Trophy Fall Watch List. He’s one of 70 players named on the list released Tuesday morning.
The Rimington trophy is awarded annually to the top center at the FBS level.
Lundblade has manned the center position on OSU’s offensive line since he was a sophomore in 2015. He got playing time in the final seven games in freshman year in 2014, even earning the start against Baylor that season. Since the beginning of his sophomore year, Lundblade has started every game at center. He and quarterback Mason Rudolph’s careers have echoed each other. Getting their first starts at Baylor in 2014 and holding the position ever since.
The former walk-on has been huge for the Cowboys during his career and will continue to be this coming season. (That’s why we ranked him the fourth most important player for 2017.)
Joining Lundblade on the list are centers from eight of OSU’s 2017 opponents: Chandler Miller (TU), Austin Schlottmann (TCU), Erick Wren (OU), Julian Good-Jones (ISU), Mesa Ribordy (KU), Reid Najvar (KSU), Tanner Thrift (BU), Zach Shackleford (UT).
Last year the trophy was awarded to center Pat Elfein from Ohio State.
The decide the award winner, the Rimington Trophy Committee uses all three All-America teams including the teams formulated by the Walter Camp Foundation, the Sporting News and the Football Writers Association of America.
The center with the most first team votes will be named the winner and be recognized at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018.
