Cowgirls Soccer Wins First Two Matches

The Cowgirls started their season with a bang.

The Cowgirls’ soccer team was successful at Cowgirl Soccer Complex on Friday and Saturday, winning both its matchups to start the season 2-0. Let’s take a look at how the Cowgirls did it.


Friday vs. Loyola:

Two Cowgirls scored their first career goals in the first half en route to a 2-0 victory over Loyola.

Sophomore Charmé Morgan scored the first of the Cowgirls’ goals at the 28-minute mark. Then, at the 36-minute mark, freshman Camy Huddleston scored her first career goal. Junior Jaci Jones was awarded assists on both goals.

Sunday vs. UMKC:

The Cowgirls gave up a goal but were able to outscore University of Missouri-Kansas City en route to a 4-1 victory to finish off opening weekend.

All four Oklahoma State goals were scored in the first half and came in rapid fashion. The scoring started 12 minutes in when Julia Lenhart got her first goal of the season. Marlo Zoller kept the scoring going in the at the 20-minute mark. Anna Beffers assisted on both goals. Coumba Sow scored seven minutes after Zoller and was assisted by Jaci Jones to put the Cowgirls up by three. Claire Gantzer scored the last of the Cowgirls’ goals. She was assisted by Marlo Zoller at the 29-minute mark.

The goal for UKMC came in at the 50-minute mark scored by Abby Small.

Up next, the Cowgirls continue non-conference play when they head to Norman for the first Bedlam matchup of the year. Kickoff from Norman will be at 7 p.m. Friday night and the game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Oklahoma.
