On Tuesday morning, Athlon Sports & Life Magazine came out with their list of the 50 best receiving groups for this upcoming season. Making the top of list was Oklahoma State. This comes as no surprised with a group that returns James Washington, gets Marcell Ateman back from injury and adds LSU transfer Tryon Johnson.
Here’s was Athlon’s Steven Lassan had to say about the OSU receiving core:
Oklahoma State’s lethal passing game could be even better in 2017. Quarterback Mason Rudolph and receiver James Washington considered early departures to the NFL but decided to return for their senior campaigns. Washington has led the team in receiving yards in each of the last two seasons and boasts a career average of 19.2 yards per catch. LSU transfer Tyron Johnson joins the mix, while Jalen McCleskey (73 catches) is back, and Marcell Ateman returns after sitting out 2016 due to an injury. Freshmen Dillon Stoner, Tyrell Alexander, Tylan Wallace and senior Chris Lacy are expected to provide depth for the high-powered Oklahoma State passing attack.
Those are definitely some encouraging words for OSU fans, this is group that has the potential to be good not just this upcoming season but for seasons to come. This group is deeep. It’s no surprise that OSU was picked No. 1 on this list.
Oklahoma State is joined in the top 5 by No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Colorado, No. 4 Penn State and Florida. South Carolina, Alabama, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Louisville round out the top ten.
The full list can be found here.
TCU (11), Texas (18), Texas Tech (19), Oklahoma (22) and Kansas State (46) join OSU as Big 12 schools on the list.
