Making way for OSU’s ascension, Washington, Michigan and Ohio State all fell back despite earning wins Saturday.
Clemson leap-frogged Oklahoma for the second spot behind top-ranked Alabama thanks to a virtual shutdown of Louisville and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson.
Penn State (after drubbing Georgia State) and USC (fresh off a double overtime home victory over Texas) round out the Top 5.
OSU’s next opponent also moved up. The TCU Hornes Frogs moved up to #16 (AP) and #15 (Coaches) ahead of next weekend’s showdown in Stillwater.
No other Big XII teams made the Top 25 in either poll as Kansas State’s loss to Vanderbilt cost them a spot.
