This past week, a few CRFF contributors got together to make “gambling” picks. We picked the games that all the Big 12 teams were involved in, a big game outside the Big 12, and an upset of our own. Now, let’s go back and see how our spread and over/under picks went this week!
Oklahoma State (-11.5) at Pittsburgh (O/U 63.5)
Oklahoma State slaughtered Pittsburgh 59-21. Obviously, Oklahoma State covered the spread and the over occurred here. All four of us took Oklahoma State to cover, but Will and Cullen were the only ones to take the over.
Kansas at Ohio (-8) (O/U 58)
Cullen, Will, and Cory picked Ohio to cover, which they did, beating Kansas 42-30. Cullen, Will and myself took the over here.
Delaware State at West Virginia
All four of us took West Virginia straight up in this game, and the ‘Neers got the victory here 59-16.
Iowa State (-10.5) at Akron (O/U 63)
Iowa State went on the road and won 41-14. I (idiotically) took Akron to cover the spread here, and I was the only one to take that. So, Cullen, Will, and Cory were correct there. Everyone expect Cory took the over, which barely occurred with 65 points scored.
Baylor at Duke (-14) (O/U 58.5)
All four of us took Duke to cover the spread, which they did exactly with a 34-20 victory. Cullen was the only one to take the under here, so he is the only person that was correct there.
SMU at TCU (-20) (O/U 65)
TCU covered the spread exactly, with a 56-36 victory over the Mustangs. With 92 point scored, this game blew the over/under out of the water. Cory was the only one to guess the over here.
Tulane at Oklahoma (-35.5) (O/U 54.5)
OU handled Tulane in this one, winning handily 56-14. Cullen, Cory, and myself took OU to cover here, but we all took the over.
Kansas State (-4) at Vanderbilt (O/U 50)
Shockingly, Vanderbilt beat Kansas State on Saturday night 14-7, in a defensive struggle of a game. I was the only one to pick Vandy to cover (even though I thought K-State would win), and Cory was the only one to take the under.
Arizona State at Texas Tech (-7) (O/U 76.5)
In an offensive shootout, Texas Tech beat Arizona State 52-45, covering the -7 spread. Well all took the Red Raiders to cover, and Cory was the only one to take the under.
Texas at USC (-15.5) (O/U 58.5)
Shockingly, Texas hung with USC on the road, but coming up just short losing 27-24 in overtime. This was something none of us saw coming, we all had USC covering. Cory and myself correctly picked the under here.
Clemson (-3) at Louisville (O/U 58.5)
In the marquee game of the week, Clemson defeated Louisville on the road 47-21. Cullen, Will, and I correctly picked Clemson covering the spread, and all four of us took the over in this game.
UPSET Picks:
Joel: North Carolina (-10) at Old Dominion
This was just flat out embarrassing, I picked Old Dominion +10. North Carolina went on the road and smacked them 53-23. I at least got the over correct.
Cullen: Tulsa at Toledo (-8.5)
Cullen took Tulsa +8.5 and the under in this game. In an offensive shootout, Toledo won 54-51. Sorry Cullen, you got nothing on this one.
Will: Purdue at Mizzou
Nice pick here, Will called the upset, taking Purdue +7 on the road at Mizzou. Purdue won the game 35-3. Unfortunately, the over of 77.5 was not met.
Cory: Purdue at Mizzou
Cory also picked the upset of Purdue, well done!
Our records for the week:
Against the Spread:
Joel: 4-4-3
Cullen: 5-3-3
Will: 5-3-3
Cory: 5-3-3
NOTE: The last number in the record indicates a push on the spread. Example: TCU won by 20 and the spread was 20.
Over/Under
Joel: 7-4
Cullen: 7-4
Will: 7-4
Cory: 6-5
NOTE: I did not count the West Virginia-Delaware State for our records for either spread or over/under because neither were announced at the time I posted the original article.
