This is a new weekly segment that will feature the top standout from both offense and defense. The Cowboys lost a tough one at home against a top 15 ranked TCU squad. Without further ado, let’s meet the Week 4 Game Ball recipients.
Offense
Should we just give it to Mason Rudolph every week? Some people think he should get the game ball every week and to an extent they may be right, but this explosive offense expands far past the QB position.
The decision came down to two: RB Justice Hill and WR James Washington. Hill carried the ball 25 times, resulting in 102 yards and a TD. He also caught 3 passes for 27 yards. The sophomore is becoming an unsung hero for the offense by opening up the field for the passing game by keeping defenses honest. Washington reeled in 6 catches for 153 yards and a score, highlighting him as one of the top wideouts in the country. His most notable play came on an 86 yard TD pass from Rudolph late in the first quarter.

Defense
The defensive game ball had a lot of candidates, but ultimately one stood out. Senior safety Tre Flowers tallied 5 total tackles in Saturday’s loss, but intercepted a pass from TCU’s Kenny Hill from inside Oklahoma State territory with 3:28 left in the first half. Down 10, Flowers provided a defensive spark that could help motivate the offense. However, Rudolph and company were unable to capitalize.
