Week 4 Big 12 Power Rankings: There’s a new team in the Big 12 basement

Welcome back, Kansas

NCAA Football: West Virginia at Kansas Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Week four in the Big 12 was not favorable to the Cowboys, but we did see some major shakeups in our weekly Power Rankings from top to bottom. The Cowboys Ride For Free team was (slightly) impressed with Baylor's close loss to Oklahoma, and for now, it’s enough to get them out of the basement. Insert Kansas to take their place. Check out the rest of the rankings below, and as always leave your Big 12 Power Rankings in the comment section!

#10 Kansas

The offense is still turning the ball over. The defense hasn’t been able to stop anybody yet. While I do think they're getting better, there’s still a lot of work to do — Cullen Clark

#9 Baylor

Yes, it was a loss to OU. Yes, it was at home. Yes, the Bears remain winless. Still, if this team going forward plays anything like it did Saturday, expect the unexpected — Brodie Smith

#8 Iowa State

The Cyclones were averaging 41 points a game before scoring 7 against Texas. Probably better than Kansas and Baylor, but not as good as Texas. Seems about right for Iowa State — Gallagher Martin

#7 Texas

Many people were calling for Iowa State to “upset” Texas last night. The Horns showed they have a talented defense, but the offense desperately needs some work. They’re a good fit at #7 for now — Gallagher Martin

#6 Kansas State

The Wildcats have a ways to go before anyone forgets the offense's performance against Vandy. I still think they’ll factor into the conference championship picture at the end — Cullen Clark

#5 Texas Tech

“Tech is improved defensively,” “Tech is undefeated,” “Lubbock is a hard place to play and the game is sold out.” Can’t wait to see how these claims I’ve heard throughout the week hold up after Saturday — Gallagher Martin

#4 West Virginia

Close call against Kansas after jumping to an early lead. They’ll be tough to predict week-to-week — Cory Landes

#3 Oklahoma State

I’m willing to give the Pokes the benefit of the doubt for the loss last week. The offensive and defensive lines must play better if they’re to contend for a Big 12 championship — Cullen Clark

#2 TCU

The Horned Frogs surprised everyone and decimated OSU's hopes of an undefeated season. But, this team is not a powerhouse despite leaving Stillwater with a victory. Luck certainly played a part, but it always does for Cinderellas — Brodie Smith

#1 Oklahoma

Oklahoma’s performance against Baylor was encouraging. If last Saturday was any indication, the Big 12 champion could very likely have one loss — Gallagher Martin
