While Oklahoma State is still working on building their 2019 recruiting class, at least one position has been set for awhile; quarterback.
Brendan Costello, from San Clemente, California, has been committed to Oklahoma State since June 13th. The Cowboys have had the benefit of being Costello’s only Power-5 offer... until now.
This past weekend, the 3-star prospect reportedly picked up an offer from the University of Georgia. His only other Division I offers at this point remain Army and Air Force, but it seems as though Mike Yurcich’s QB find is getting noticed.
It’s not surprising someone else has noticed the 22nd ranked dual-threat quarterback prospect in the 2019 class. Costello is having a heck of a senior season. Through eight games, he has completed 120 of 180 passes for 1,678 yards, 17 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. He’s also averaging 7.5 yards a carry with 550 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. And, while the Tritons are 4-4 on the season, they’ve won their last two in a row.
Obviously an offer is just that, an offer. But it’s also from a team like Georgia, who is currently ranked No. 2 in the country in the Coaches and AP Poll and coming off a National Championship game appearance. It could also be a sign of more offers coming.
We spoke with Costello back in September, and he had a lot of great things to say about both Oklahoma State and his relationship with Mike Yurcich. As a Cowboy fan, you have to think the relationships he has already built with the Cowboy coaches will keep him committed come signing day.
It’s certainly something to keep an eye on moving forward.
