Oklahoma State Lands First Running Back Commit for 2019 Class

The Cowboys get a commitment from a JUCO back

247Sports

This weekend, Oklahoma State played host to 11 2019 recruits including JUCO running back Dezmon Jackson. The visit seems to have gone so well, Jackson made a commitment to the Cowboys before heading home.

According to Robert Allen at GoPokes, the Hutchinson C.C. running back let Coach Gundy and Coach Wozniak know about his decision after a great visit.

“It (visit) went really good. My host was Chuba (Hubbard) the starting running back. He is a great guy. My mom liked it, liked it a lot.”

Jackson chose the Cowboys over offers from Kansas State, Western Kentucky, and Ohio.

Jackson earned 2nd-team All-Jayhawk Conference honors this season after rushing for 1,352-yards and 14 touchdowns for the Hutchinson Dragons.

The Cowboys are reportedly still looking to add a high school running back prospect to go along with Jackson, after losing Justice Hill to the NFL and J.D. King to transfer. The two senior backs OSU has been targeting are TCU commit Darwin Barton and 4-star Deondrick Glass.

I don’t see Barton flipping, which leaves Glass. He recently announced adding Miami to his top schools, along with Oklahoma State, Alabama, and Ohio State. Miami offered Glass recently and are getting an official

Glass’s top choice is Alabama, but they’ll likely be out of the running if 5-star running back Trey Sanders commits to the Tide on December 19th like expected.

As of now, Oklahoma State remains the crystal ball favorite, but with Glass not expected to commit to any school until February, there is still of lot of work to do to get the talented back committed.

In the meantime, the Cowboys can feel good about landing Jackson. He is planning to join the team in the Spring, which should allow him to become an immediate contributor for the 2019 season.

Jackson is a big, strong back at 5-foot-10, 190-pounds, who along with an ability to run with power, can catch the ball well too. Take a look at his highlights below.

Jackson made it official later Sunday night posting this on his Twitter page.
