Allen, TX produces a lot of D1 talent and OSU has largely missed out on it, but not this time.

Jayden Jernigan is an absolute stud and was the top remaining DT target on OSU’s board. After what was clearly a succesful official visit during the Spring Game, he makes for the third(!) defensive line commitment in less than a week, and the 4th overall. The Cowboys beat Washington, SMU, Colorado, Houston, Minnesota, Oregon, Texas Tech, K-State, and others.
Jernigan joins Xavier Ross, Israel Isuman-Hundley and Kody Walterscheid in the Class of 2019 on the defensive line.
Jernigan, who weighs in 280 lb and stands 6’1” tall, is a bully on the interior of the defensive line and excels at controlling the point of attack with his strength, even at the highest level of Texas high school football. He has also shown the ability to combine his strength with agility to shed blocks and make plays in the backfield.
Texas is a hotbed nationally for recruiting and getting in the good graces of powerhouse programs such as Allen is huge. Jernigan is just one of six players rated at three stars or better for the 2019 class alone. It’s never over ‘till the ink dries but the Cowboys seemingly missed out on 4-star targets EJ Ndoma-Ogar and Grant Tisdale, but are still in the mix for 3-star lineman Tai Brooks. Needless to say, this is a huge pickup both for Jernigan’s serious talent and for future recruiting efforts.
