Cowboy Golf Obliterates Columbus Regional

In the final tune-up before the NCAA Championships back home at Karsten Creek, the Cowboys went to Columbus, Ohio. In dominating fashion, the Cowboys earned the automatic bid to the finals on their home course.

Oklahoma State locked up its record 13th NCAA Regional title by eight strokes over Illinois. The Cowboys were the only team under-par for the tournament, where they finished 8-under par over the 54 hole tournament.

Matthew Wolff and Zach Bauchou tied for second place individually, carding a 3-round score of 3-under par. Michigan’s Kyle Mueller - who was playing in the tournament individually - won the title by two strokes.

Let’s look at some numbers, shall we?

Even if the Cowboys had not won the regional, they almost certainly would have received an at-large bid.

The men’s NCAA Championship will take place next weekend here in Stillwater. The women’s NCAA Championship is taking place this weekend, starting tomorrow.

Mason Rudolph’s Rookie Minicamp Highlights

Rudolph has already been turning heads in Pittsburgh, and not only because of the toxic start to his relationship with Ben Roethlisberger. Rudolph has shown up, done the work and is starting to make people excited about the third-round pick.

Here’s a look at the highlights from his rookie minicamp. There’s a familiar sight for Cowboy fans at the 57-second mark.

That 15-yard out route looks to still be working at the next level.

Oklahoma State Odds Released

OddsShark released its opening over/under lines for next college football season.

The Cowboys, needing to replace Rudolph, Washington and a plethora of other weapons both offensively and defensively, have opening O/U of 7.5 wins.

Other Big 12 O/U:

  • Baylor: 5.5
  • Oklahoma: 10.5
  • Texas: 8.5
  • West Virginia: 7.5

Of course, these will all change, but one that struck me as odd is West Virginia. Does Vegas know something that we don’t? Probably not, but it just seems low to me.

Boone Pickens Offers Advice to Class of 2018

When someone as successful and influential as T. Boone Pickens offers you some advice, the worst thing you can do is ignore it.

In a recent Forbes article, Oklahoma State’s sugar daddy offered some of his favorite “Booneisms” to the recent graduates.

I’ll give away a few, but you’ll have to click the link to see the explanations.

  • “A fool with a plan can beat a genius with no plan.”
  • “Keep focused. When you are hunting elephants, don’t get distracted chasing rabbits.”
  • “Be the eternal optimist. Act like the fella who fell off the top of a 10-story building…as he passed the third floor, said, ‘I’m not dead yet. So far, so good.’”

Congratulations to the Class of 2018! Take some of Boone’s words to heart, as they come from one of the greatest oil tycoons in history.
