Basketball Recruiting: Armando Bacot to Announce Commitment, Avery Anderson Trending OSU

It’s bad news, good news time for Oklahoma State

Recruiting is never out of season. And while most Oklahoma State fans are focused on the upcoming start to football season, basketball is going to be the news of the day.

In fact, it could be a BIG day for Mike Boynton and Oklahoma State basketball with a potentially program changing announcement schedule. Plus, the Cowboys are trending in the right direction for another top target.

Armando Bacot

Mike Boynton’s biggest remaining target for 2019 is set to make his commitment tonight. Five-star center Armando Bacot made the announcement on Twitter on Wednesday, that he will pick his college destination at 5:00 p.m.

In the running, joining Oklahoma State, are North Carolina, Duke, Georgia, and VCU. Those are the Top-5 Bacot announced just last month.

According to 247Sports, North Carolina is the overwhelming favorite. 247Sports National Recruiting Director Evan Daniels agrees. He make a prediction for UNC on Tuesday.

“I think UNC is the leader as we reach the home stretch of Armando Bacot’s recruitment,” Daniels told Inside Carolina on Tuesday. “I’m not expecting his recruitment to go too much longer. This is a kid they’ve really targeted and would be a significant pull by Roy Williams and staff.”

Like Coach Williams, Coach Mike Boynton similarly made Bacot his top priority, but was always going to be fighting an uphill battle to beat-put UNC.

I have to agree with all of the other predictions and see Bacot picking North Carolina tonight.

Avery Anderson

In better news for Oklahoma State, the Cowboys are trending up for four-star combo guard Avery Anderson.

Mike Boynton’s other top target to fill his final 2019 scholarship, Anderson is the 10th ranked player in the state of Texas, and incredibly talented.

The last five predictions on 247Sports have gone Oklahoma State’s way. That includes picks by Jerry Myer, 247’s Director of Basketball Scouting, and Billy Embody, who writes for the LSU site Geaux247.

The Cowboys and Tigers are two of Anderson’s final five schools, along with Florida, TCU, and Texas Tech.

There’s good reason to believe that Anderson will be wearing Orange and Black in college, based on the way he talks about what Coach Boynton is tell him.

”They want me to come down there and play and be a big impact for them because all their guards are going to be leaving. That’d be a big step in for me. I love the coaching staff.”

Likely, we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out where Anderson will commit. Anderson recently said to 247 that he’s like to make his decision before the start of his senior season.

I like where this is heading for the Cowboys, and have a good feeling he will be the last piece for Boynton’s 2019 class.
