It’s High Noon...

Cowgirl Soccer sets attendance record:

Sunday night, the Cowgirls opened up Neal Patterson Stadium with a 2-0 win against the Oklahoma Sooners. They would a have a record-setting 4,122 people there to witness the occasion.

What a fantastic way to usher in a new era of Cowgirl Soccer. A win against your rival and record setting attendance number look like a promising season as the Cowgirls look to defend their Big 12 title.

First goal scored at Neal Patterson Stadium:

Kimberly Rodriguez will be credited with scoring the first goal in the new home of the Cowgirls. She would score on a penalty kick in the fifteenth minute to put the Cowgirls up 1-0. This opener has everything you could ever want. The first score is a penalty kick against OU? What a first score.

Here’s a video if the kick courtesy of Brodie Myers:

Bonus:

Cactus Bowl to be renamed the Cheez-It Bowl:

It was announced this morning that the Cactus Bowl would have a new name. Get ready for this one folks... The Cheez-It Bowl. We also got a look at the new logo and it’s just as interesting as the name.

Oklahoma State left out of preseason AP Poll:

The preseason AP Poll is out this morning and Oklahoma State goes unranked, With a new quarterback and loosing multiple players to the NFL, this isn’t a huge shocker, Also coming in as “not shocking” is Alabama at No.1. They’re followed by Clemson, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Ohio State. Four Big 12 teams are ranked; Oklahoma at No.7, TCU at No.16, West Virginia at No.17 and Texas at No.23 are the Big 12 names that make the list. You can view the entire list here.

The Cowboys are among the teams receiving votes, basically sitting at No. 29

Other Stuff:

A 2021 QB target had some glowing things to say about Oklahoma State ($$)

“Oklahoma State was special,” McCarthy said. “Coach (Mike) Yurcich already called my head coach and quarterbacks coach to check on grades and character. Coach (Mike) Gundy wasn’t at the camp to make a decision on the offer but Coach Yurcich said I have one of the best arms he’s ever seen for a 15-year old. He couldn’t pull the trigger on the offer without Coach Gundy’s blessing which I totally understand. He wants to see a couple varsity games and wants me back in the fall for a game.”

Barry Sanders had some advice for new New York Giants running back Saquan Barkley.

Don’t forget to keep up with our Countdown to Kick-Off series. Today, Phillip looks at why OSU will and won’t win 10 games for a fourth-straight season.

That’s all for today!
