Oklahoma State is loaded at running back heading into 2018 with four guys good enough to start for the Cowboys. That doesn’t mean the news Thursday night wasn’t disappointing.
That, a scheduled visit from the Cowboys’ top wide receiver target and a big race by the Hill brothers on Friday make up the latest recruiting news for Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma State missed out on their top running back target. 4-star Darwin Barlow announced his commitment to Big 12 foe TCU on Thursday night.

The Horned Frogs had been the favorite to land Barlow for the past month or so. The move isn’t too surprising, seeing as his friend and teammate, 4-star wide receiver Tamauzia Brown also committed to the Horned Frogs on Thursday night.
The Cowboys weren’t planning on pursuing a running back in the 2019 class until they believed they had a chance at Barlow. So while it’s disappointing to not see Barlow pick orange over purple, the bigger disappointment is to see two talented players the caliber of Barlow and Brown on the roster of a conference opponent.
If the Cowboys do look to add a running back to their 2019 class, there are still a few potential prospects, including; 4-star Deondrick Glass, and 3-star Booker T. Washington back Thomas Grayson, who just decommitted from Nebraska, and has interest in the Cowboys.
Speaking of top targets, the Cowboys’ likely top wide receiver prospect has set a visit date.
3-star Langston Anderson out of Midlothian, Texas is set to make an official visit to Stillwater the weekend of the Iowa State game.
“I’m setting up my officials, and I want to see how some of the teams in my top schools turn out,” he told 247Sports. ”I also want to see if any coaches leave their schools or not. I’m going to Oklahoma State on October 5th. I’m also going to Ole Miss, but I’m not sure when yet. I’m looking towards TCU also. Those are the three I know that I’m aiming for.”
Langston, the 77th ranked wide receiver in the nation, named the Cowboys in his Top-10 back in June. As of now, Baylor is the favorite to land Anderson, according to 247Sports, out of the 23 schools who have offered him.
Despite the prediction, I still have a good feeling about the potential for Anderson to end up in orange and black by the end of the recruiting period
On Friday, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and Michigan fans will be glued to twitter for the much anticipated 40-yard race between Cowboy running back Justice Hill and his 5-star brother Dax.
It is something that had been teased for months before that “promo” video was released on August 5th.
Beyond the race, fans have been hoping that along with the video, might come some sort news in regards to his recruitment. Nothing has come out since he released his Top-6 schools back in April, which included OSU, Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Clemson, and Michigan.
The race feels like it’s down to the Buckeyes, Cowboys, and Crimson Tide.
As most OSU fans know, Dax is the Cowboys’ top-2019-target. The uber-talented DB would be the highest rated recruit to come to Stillwater in... well forever. He’s also the best chance OSU has had at a player of his caliber in a very long time.
Hill’s commitment could come and day now, and many speculate the video might end with an announcement. If it does, it could be the start to a great weekend for OSU fans, or a disappointing one.
