Recruiting season is never over, for both football and basketball. Coaches for both teams will be on alert in the coming days with a football commitment this week, and a basketball visit in September.
Trace Ford Announcement this Friday
One of Oklahoma State’s top defensive targets, 3-star defensive end Trace Ford will make his commitment on Friday at 10:00 a.m.
Ford, a top-10 in-state prospect from Edmond, is down to Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Baylor, Arizona State, and Oregon. As of now Oklahoma State is the overwhelming favorite. Ford has called the Cowboys his favorite team growing up.
Yes, the Cowboys already have two DE commits for 2019 in Isreal Isuman-Hundley and Kody Walterscheid. But landing a talented kid like Ford is an opportunity the Cowboys shouldn’t pass up. If he does choose OSU, he’ll be the Cowboys’ second-highest rated player in the class, right behind tight end Grayson Boomer
Not to mention, nabbing a third top-10 in-state player to go with Boomer and cornerback Demarco Jones, would be great for OSU.
As a junior, Ford totaled 40 tackles, seven TFLs, one sack, and five forced fumbles.
If I’m making a prediction, I think the Cowboys get to celebrate both a win over Missouri State on Thursday night and a commitment by Ford on Friday morning.
Marcus Watson to make official visit
One of the 65-best talents in the 2019 class will be making an official visit to Stillwater in the coming weeks.
4-star 2019 shooting guard Marcus Watson announced a number of official visits earlier this week, beginning with Boston College this weekend.

According to 247Sports, the Oklahoma State visit will come the weekend of September 14th.
The 6-foot-6, 205-pound, Buford, Georgia prospect has 19 offers. Along with the five schools he plans to visit, the list includes Tennessee, Missouri, Clemson, Oregon, N.C. State, Virginia Tech, and others.
As of now, Georgia Tech is the favorite to land Watson, with two picks going for the Yellow Jackets; One vote from Director of Basketball Scouting Jerry Myer and another from Kentucky recruiting insider Chris Fisher.
As of now, OSU will have one available scholarship for the 2019 when Mike Cunningham’s eligibility runs out. The Cowboys are also in the running for 4-star combo guard Avery Anderson who is expected to make a commitment sometime in the near future. I feel better about a commitment from Anderson than I do Watson.
