When Oklahoma State takes the field against Boise State this weekend, fans won’t be the only ones in attendance. A number of football and basketball recruits will be taking in the game at BPS on Saturday.
Travion Ford
Let’s start with football. 2021 defensive end prospect Travion Ford announced on twitter that he will make an unofficial visit to Stillwater this Saturday.
The 6-foot-4, 215-lb sophomore doesn’t currently have any offers, but has already made a trip to Kentucky this fall and has has interest from Missouri, Memphis, Illinois, and Central Michigan.
The Cowboys have only made five offers thus far for the 2021, and all of them four or five star recruits. It will be interesting to see if Ford picks up his first after his visit this weekend.
Marcus Watson
Mike Boynton will be hosting two big-time 2019 recruits this weekend, beginning with his young cousin Marcus Watson.
Watson, who named Oklahoma State in his Top 10 back in early August, is easily one of the Cowboys’ top targets to fill their final available scholarship for 2019.
But, they have their work cut of for them to land the 4-star shooting guard. As of now, 247Sports experts have Georgia Tech as the favorites to land Watson.
This will be the third of four official visits for Watson this month. He already made stops at Boston College and Texas Tech, and will be at Georgia Tech next week.
Personally, I’m not all that confident in OSU landing Watson. It’s a positive that they are getting an official visit even though it doesn’t seem like they were even on the radar earlier this summer. “I have been talking to Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Georgia. NC State, Virginia Tech, just a lot of schools have been recruiting me,” Watson told Brian Snow in July.
Avery Anderson III
Meanwhile, the other guy visiting Saturday is the one I think OSU has a real shot at landing; 4-star combo guard Avery Anderson III.
We’ve talked a lot about Anderson, the 6-2, 170-lb guard from Justin, Texas. He named the Cowboys in his Top-5 back in along with TCU, Texas Tech, Florida, and LSU. As of now 247Sports has Oklahoma State as the favorite to land him with five of the seven votes; including from 247’s Director of Basketball Scouting Jerry Meyer. The other two votes are for LSU.
Pairing Anderson with the Boone twins in the class of 2019 would likely make the class Top-20, if not better. Obviously, this official visit is big and Boynton is hoping to come away with a commitment from at least one of Anderson or Watson.
I’m not sure Anderson will make a commitment this weekend, but I do feel much more strongly that he will end up in orange and black in 2019 than I do that Watson will.
Some bad news of the football recruiting front this week, as one of Oklahoma State’s wide receiver targets for the 2019 class announced on Thursday that he would be taking his talents to Oxford, Mississippi.

The 3-star receiver out of Bentonville, Arkansas chose the Rebels over offers from OSU, Georgia, Auburn, Arkansas, and Arizona State, among others.
With Jackson out of the mix, and the Cowboys still without a receiver commit for the 2019 class, the options are starting to get limited. OSU is still in on 3-star Langston Anderson, bus it not favored to land him.
It’s certainly something to keep an eye on as we get closer to signing day.
