Friday Night Highlights: Jones, Harper impress on both sides of the ball

Here’s how Oklahoma State’s 2019 football commits performed this week.

Demarco Jones Hudl

Brendan Costello faced another one of San Diego’s top teams, Thomas Harper impresses on both sides and the defensive commits play well in routs. Check out how Oklahoma State’s 2019 commits performed last week.

Brendan Costello, Quarterback

Costello’s San Clemente Tritons lost a close one La Costa Canyon 38-35. The dual-threat gunslinger finished with 186 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on 14-25 passing. Costello also carried the ball 10 times for 57 yards and a score, including a 31-yard scamper.

Demarco Jones, Defensive Back

Booker T. Washington took down Bishop Kelley 24-14 over the weekend. Jones had an impressive performance on both sides of the ball, recording three tackles including one that saved a touchdown. On offense, Jones caught two balls, one of which went 46 yards for a score.

Thomas Harper, ATH

While Karns High School got dominated by West 42-14, Harper ended the night with a whopping 13 (!!) catches for 180 yards and two scores. Harper was essentially responsible for all of Karns’ points and he chipped in seven tackles (one for loss) on the night as well. The Knoxville, TN athlete was responsible for 180 of the teams’ 241 yards. You can check out just how explosive Harper was below ⬇️

Trace Ford, Defensive End

Trace Ford woke up on Friday morning, put on his best Friday orange and announced his commitment to play for the Pokes next season. On Friday night, Ford helped lead his Edmond Sante Fe Wolves to a 31-7 win over Edmond North. Ford and the Sante Fe defense allowed just 144 total yards on the night and let up no offensive touchdowns.

Jayden Jernigan, Defensive Tackle

Allen routed Mesquite Horn 40-0 on Friday behind a dominant performance from the defense. Jernigan anchored a defensive line that held the Jaguars to just 2.8 yards-per-carry and 114 total yards. The big d-tackle seems happy to be adding a new teammate on the line as well.
