After the Cowboys corrected to .500 they have fallen two straight to conference foes Baylor and Iowa State. The Cowboys have also lost four players since the last time these teams met. The Cowboys look to correct that against an also struggling OU squad in the Stillwater version of Bedlam basketball 2019.

Oklahoma came into conference play as a nice surprise to college basketball. Since then they’ve only managed a 2-4 conference record to fall out of the AP Top 25. One of their two wins however was, unfortunately, against the Cowboys on January 5th in Norman. Thomas Dziagwa and Michael Weathers (no longer with the team) led the Cowboys in scoring, while Christian James, Brady Manek, and Kristian Doolittle led the way for the Sooners.

The Cowboys’ seven remaining scholarship players will have to dig deep if they want to exact revenge in the home half of Bedlam.

Three Things to Watch For:

  1. Fighting on the glass:

In the first game, the Cowboys were out-rebounded 51-39. The Cowboys will have to do a better job on the glass (or just never miss) if they want to even up the Bedlam series.

2. Cowboys Captains:

The captains now make up almost half of the roster, so it’s even more on their shoulders to find a way to win. The way the Cowboys finish their season will largely dependent on their captains; their attitude sets the tone for the rest of this year and the build-up into next season.

3. Rivalry, Revenge:

The Cowboys have their backs against the wall and are in desperate need of a win. We’ll see if avenging the early season loss is enough inspiration to push the Cowboys back into the win column. (Side Note: What’s up with these second games of the series being so early in the conference schedule?)
