The Cowboys let a 19 point lead slip through their fingers in a 70-61 loss to Oklahoma Wednesday night.
In a game where Lindy Waters scored a career- high 20 points and Cam McGriff had 13 points, a loss would not be something you would expect. Well... that’s what happened in Gallagher Iba.
The Cowboys had a beautiful start to the game where it seemed liked they couldn’t miss from deep and they were playing good defense. As I mentioned earlier they managed to build up 28-9 lead with 10:53 to go in the first half. Threes where coming from everyone on the court and they were all going in.
Just when it is seemed like the game was in the bag, the Sooners would slowly but surely chip away at that lead. The Cowboys would somehow manage to find ways to keep themselves in it though no matter what OU did and go into the locker room up 37-31.
Then came the second half. With the changes to personnel the starting lineup for OSU hadn’t seen the bench a lot. OU took full advantage. Especially Jamal Bieniemy. The freshman led the team with 17 points and was a perfect 3 for 3 from beyond the arc. Meanwhile the Pokes were silent and nothing was getting in the hoop. They shot just 27.27 percent in the second half compared to 56.25 percent in the first.
The tired legs just couldn’t get the job and the shots were landing at the worst time.
Next up the Cowboys will try to break the losing streak when they take on South Carolina in the Big 12/SEC challenge in GIA on Saturday.
