Preview: Cowboy Basketball vs. Texas

The Cowboys will look for their first Big 12 win when the Longhorns come to town.

The Cowboys will look to get their first Big 12 win of the season when the Longhorns come to Gallagher- Iba Arena. This could be a manageable task as the Longhorns haven’t had a fantastic season thus far. However, if the Cowboys want to win, they’ll have to shoot better and play better defense without fouling. They’ll also need guys like Michael Weathers to play well off the bench and get to the rim. This would be a much needed Big 12 for the Cowboys.

The Horns are off to 2-0 start in conference play after beating K-State in Manhattan and West Virginia in Austin. However the Longhorns have been inconsistent this season as a whole. They’ve got an impressive win over North Carolina at the beginning of the season. The Heels are currently No.12 in the country. They followed that win however, with a 3-game losing streak. This team is very comparable to OSU in most stat categories. However Texas has been able to have some of those games come out their way and have a higher win total.

Statistics:

Three Things to Watch For

  1. Which Texas team shows up?:

One problem that this Texas team has is consistency. They can be really good at times and at times they fall flat. If the wrong Texas team shows up, the Pokes can 100 percent take advantage of that and get their first win in the Big 12.

2.Foul trouble:

This has been a huge problem for the Cowboys this season. If they want to win in this conference, they have to stop giving opposing teams chances at free points. That's what kept OU in the game on Saturday.

3. What kind of crowd shows up?

With it getting close to school being back in session, the student section should be pretty filled. But how about the other crowd? It is a Tuesday evening and most younger kids are back in school. This is a big game though so I expect people to come. We'll see what they look like for a Tuesday evening Big 12 showdown.
