Brown earns Big 12 honor:
After an impressive game against the Mountaineers on Saturday, Dru Brown was named the Big 12’s Newcomer of the Week.
“[Dru Brown] has played a lot of games,” said head coach Mike Gundy. “He has a good demeanor. He has been around a lot and has practiced a lot. He handled himself better than what I thought. I don’t know what I had based that on. He played really well, in my opinion, under the circumstances. He has been voted a captain before he even stepped on the field for the most part. That’s not easy to do. We all know the times that we are in with the transfer portal in college football. If there is a position you can justify having the guys move around: It’s the quarterbacks. If you are behind a guy, you are behind a guy. Dru has been very good for us. He was good and he was effective. He took care of the football. He processed information quickly. He managed the game; quarterbacks who manage the game can be very effective, and that’s what he did in Morgantown.” {Sports Illustrated/ Oklahoma State Media Relations}
Spencer Sanders could be back for Bowl game:
After an injury to his hand, it looks like Spencer Sanders could be back for the Oklahoma State bowl game.
In confirming that Sanders underwent surgery on the injured thumb and will miss Saturday night’s regular-season finale against No. 7 Oklahoma, head coach Mike Gundy stated that the redshirt freshman could return to the Cowboys for the postseason, provided that the bowl game is played late enough in December. The coach added that the surgery Sanders underwent is similar to that of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, which cost the star five games this season, but added, “I don’t know what it’s called but I think there’s a ligament or something in there. {NBCSports}
Jalen Hurts doesn’t like cheese fries:
OK, there he went and nearly redeemed himself with some humor. But wait, what? Jalen Hurts doesn’t like cheese fries? That’s a 2+2=5 formula — doesn’t quite compute.
How does one just … not like cheese fries? I get that dietary restrictions can force oneself away from such a delicacy, or that perhaps you feel a little wobbly with grease after a good bowl, but saying nah to cheese fries altogether is … sad. I can’t help but feel sympathy for him.
Has he never had cheese fries at all, or simply never enjoyed them? The Nah, I don’t tells me he’s maybe been kept away from that potatoey, cheesy goodness his whole life in the same way Friday Night Lights star J.D. McCoy would — I’d bet my life on this — abstain from cheese fries … for the good of his development. {PistolsFiring}
