The Unlikely Rise of Chuba Hubbard

A phenomenal piece from Bleacher Report about the Oklahoma State superstar running back.

But, again, Gundy knows that listing off a running back’s numbers probably isn’t going to change the way people think about the award, or about his breakout star’s accomplishments.

Maybe the story behind that breakout will, though.

The story of a running back who hails from a place in the deep north called Sherwood Park, a suburb outside of Edmonton, Alberta.

The story of an athlete who nearly made the Canadian Olympic team as a sprinter before transforming his body for football.

The story of a man who is forming a nonprofit to help children “get out of a negative environment and put them in a positive one,” inspired by his own family’s struggles over the past two decades.

The story of a name perfect for the bright lights of New York City. Bleacher Report

Dru Brown bet on himself when he came to OSU

Two weeks ago, it looked like Brown’s OSU career would fade into darkness with two seasons as the Cowboys’ backup quarterback.

Yet a thumb injury to starter Spencer Sanders opened the door for Brown to make his mark in Stillwater, and there’s no bigger moment than Saturday night’s Bedlam showdown when the No. 21 Cowboys take on No. 7 Oklahoma at 7 p.m. inside Boone Pickens Stadium.

The fact that Brown in in position for a game of this magnitude is a journey of triumph itself. The Oklahoman

OSU +12 12 a popular pick among analysts

Seven out of eight CBS sports writers are taking the Pokes plus the points this week. Given the way Oklahoma has played recently, I would agree that 12 12 is too big of a number.

The Sooners have won a lot of games, but they haven’t been the best team against the spread as favorites. They’re 3-7 overall on the year, since they’ve never been underdogs. Even though Hurts is a one-man show, defenses have been able to force turnovers lately and limit his explosiveness. Gundy usually gets his team to punch up for this game, too, even if they can’t get the outright win. Pick: Oklahoma State (+12.5)
