2019 College Football Playoff: Oklahoma State fan guide

LSU, Ohio State or Clemson?

NCAA Football: College Football Playoff Semifinal-Oklahoma vs Louisiana State Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The College Football Playoff kicks off with two semifinal games Saturday. The winners of the two semifinal games will meet in the national championship game Jan. 13 at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Semifinals

Peach Bowl: No. 1 LSU vs. No. 4 Oklahoma (3 p.m. ESPN)

Fiesta Bowl: No. 2 Ohio State vs. No. 3 Clemson (7 p.m. ESPN)

So which team(s) should Oklahoma State fans root for?

LSU

The top-ranked Tigers have head coach Ed Orgeron, who’s voice is a national treasure of its own. Quarterback Joe Burrow bet on himself and transferred from Ohio State to LSU and won the Heisman Trophy. Oh, and their mascot Mike the Tiger is a live animal.

Oklahoma

...

Ohio State

Ryan Day led the Buckeyes to the playoff in his first year as the head coach after being the co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach and interim coach. The Buckeyes also have the top defensive player in the country with Chase Young, who was suspended two games for receiving an unauthorized loan from a family friend. Despite missing two games, Young recorded 38 tackles (10.5 for loss), 16.5 sacks and forced seven fumbles.

A meeting between Burrow and Day’s Buckeyes would be a spicy one in the national championship game.

Clemson

The Tigers wear orange, but it’s not America’s Brightest Orange like Oklahoma State’s. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney’s commitment to his team being “underrated” and not being given “enough respect” as grown weary on so many.
