It’s high noon...
Cowboy Baseball tries to beat ORU:
As the Cowboys get ready to face crosstown rivals ORU, The O’colly’s Hallie Hart got a chance to speak with the players about what this game means to them.
“I’m fired up to play them,” McCusker said. “I think this is the year that we’re gonna finally get that win against them and my first win against them, too.”
The Cowboys have fallen to ORU in five straight games, including a 14-6 loss that eliminated them from the NCAA Fayetteville Regional on June 3, 2017.
During the past season, the Cowboys planned to face the Golden Eagles three times. After rain prevented them from playing the first game, they lost to ORU in Stillwater and in Tulsa.
Josh Holliday, OSU’s coach, said the Cowboys shouldn’t have to rely on the history against the Golden Eagles (3-3) to give them the motivated mentality they need. He said OSU and ORU are different from before, each with a large group of new players.
“I don’t put a whole lot of stock into the past,” Holliday said. “I think it’s more about the now and how well we prepared to go out and compete (Tuesday).”
Bryce Carter, a catcher/designated hitter who transferred from Stanford, is a first-year Cowboy, but Oklahoma is home to him. He played high school baseball at Tulsa’s Cascia Hall Preparatory School, which is about 6 miles from ORU’s campus.
“To be able to actually have an opportunity to come back here and kind of get the best of both worlds for at least a year has been a really special experience,” Carter said. {O’Colly}
Update: While this story is still relevant, Oklahoma State has postponed their game against ORU. The teams are working out a makeup date.

On the latest episode of The 1012 Podcast, they had an interesting conversation about who has had the worse of luck this season. The Cowboys and Mountaineers have both had their fair share of difficulties.
